An Update from English Camp 2015

We are in the midst of an exciting English Camp summer season serving hundreds of youth with 12 camps in six countries. All year our wonderful Regional Camp Coordinators and Camp Supervisors recruited, trained, and mobilized approximately 100 North American staff.

This staff, along with our national partners in six countries, are sharing the love of Christ in word and deed through games and activities, engaging conversational English lessons, deep discussions, and just hanging out!

This week camps are being held in Belarus, Moldova, Germany, Switzerland, and Portugal. We have already completed one camp in Belarus and by the end of the summer, there will have been four camps in partnership with four churches in that country. The camp in the Philippines was held earlier this month and worked with 45 underprivileged children entering 6th grade. Campers worked on learning English to improve their overall educational experience.

In Philippians 1:27 Paul states, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel (my emphasis)

Here are our requests:

Please pray for unity. Recently my pastor reminded me, “There’s no greater threat to any group than when they are not standing together in unity.” We have about 100 North Americans serving with an equal number of local staff. We realize that though we may be gifted differently we must be united in the Holy Spirit as the Body of Christ so that our testimony will be great and our actions will match our words.

Please pray for safe travel. Our volunteers and campers will be traveling to and from camps in Asia, Europe, and Eurasia:
Belarus (4 camps): July 4- August -24
The Philippines: July 13-17
Portugal: July 26-August 9
Germany (4 camps): July 26-August 24
Switzerland: July 26-August 9
Moldova: July 29-August 10

Please pray for our campers.  Pray they would improve their English and grow closer to Jesus. Every year young people at English Camps hear about the Good News of Jesus Christ and many choose to follow Him as a result. Pray for fruit that would remain.
